Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) that provides a wide range of clinical and health promotion services to the Wentworth Shire. The organisation has a Primary Health focus and employs a range of staff (22) including doctors, nurses, educators and Aboriginal Health Workers. Services offered include GP services; Sexual Health; Midwifery; Nutrition; Exercise; Mental health; Substance misuse; and Chronic Disease Management (including Diabetes, COPD and Heart Disease).

About the Opportunity
Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation has an opportunity for a Program Coordinator to lead their Drug & Alcohol services in Dareton, NSW.
Reporting to the CEO, this varied role will have both a management component and a hands-on clinical aspect, as you take responsibility for the effectiveness of the organisation's Drug & Alcohol, Mental Health and Social & Emotion Wellbeing services, including financial and staff management.
Through your work, you will take an active role in developing the capacity of Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation to respond effectively to the needs of local Aboriginal people and communities experiencing problems with substance misuse.
Some of your specific responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining a small caseload of patients, with size dependent upon other workload;
- Coordinating the accreditation process and liaising with outside services in relation to accreditation;
- Developing and implementing process improvement programs for Drug & Alcohol services;
- Promoting ethical standards for individual and organisational behaviour and decision making;
- Developing and maintaining systems, including appropriate measurement for staff performance, fee recovery, purchase and use of consumables, and hours of operation;
- With CEO and staff, developing and maintaining appropriate practices and procedures for the business; and
- Recruiting, inducting, training and evaluating staff.
Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a candidate with qualifications and experience as an Alcohol & Other Drugs Worker, and an interest in working particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and communities. Your background will involve providing assessments, interventions, group facilitation and support to patients, utilising a range of activity based and/or therapeutic interventions. You will also require a demonstrated understanding of current issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with regard to substance misuse.
Additionally you will be an experienced Program Coordinator, with a broad understanding of the requirements of a business and skills in accounting and business reporting. You will be an accomplished leader with a history in effective team building, decision making and setting an example to your team through your behaviour and attitude. Outstanding communication skills with staff, patients and other services are vital. You will also have solid knowledge of relevant legislation and employment conditions.
The successful applicant will be rewarded with an attractive salary circa $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus super.
