Marine Rescue in Action: Saving Lives, Supporting Communities

At Marine Rescue NSW (MRNSW), we exist to save lives on the water. Every day, over 3,500 volunteers across 46 units respond to emergencies, manage the marine safety radio network, and help educate boaters to stay safe.

In 2024–25 alone, our crews have rescued 10,102 people across 4,552 rescue missions, contributing to over 42,000 missions since our inception.

We are a unique emergency service — values-led, impact-driven and fuelled by collaboration. Now, we’re looking for a Zone Training Manager to strengthen training capability, enhance operational readiness, and support our people across the Hunter Central Coast region.

Training the People Who Save Lives

Marine Rescue NSW is seeking a full-time Zone Training Manager based in the Hunter Central Coast region.

Reporting to the Zone Commander Central, you will lead and elevate training capability across the Zone — ensuring volunteers and staff are skilled, confident and operationally ready.

You will:

  • Design and evolve practical training programs that build real-world capability
  • Support and mentor trainers and assessors across multiple Units
  • Maintain strong training governance aligned with RTO standards
  • Oversee accurate training records and accreditation documentation
  • Partner with the Training and Capability team to improve systems and delivery
  • Deliver engaging training across diverse volunteer groups
  • Ensure training resources are ready and fit for purpose
  • Build trusted relationships with Unit Commanders and operational leaders

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on capability, consistency and continuous improvement — not just course delivery.

Your Expertise. Our Capability.

Applicants must hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), or a Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education from a recognised higher education provider and meet applicable vocational competency and currency requirements.

You will also bring:

  • Experience working within emergency or volunteer-based organisations
  • Strong understanding of training compliance and record management
  • Confidence engaging diverse audiences and building trust
  • Strong digital literacy across Microsoft and training systems
  • Marine or operational experience (desirable)

You are a credible, calm and collaborative leader who understands operational realities. You know how to lift standards while bringing people with you. You thrive in environments where purpose matters and where your leadership directly strengthens frontline capability.
