About CAAMA
Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) is a nationally recognised cultural institution and Australia's original First Nations broadcaster. Based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), CAAMA has been creating media with and for Aboriginal people, their families and communities for almost five decades.
Home to 8KIN FM in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, CAAMA operates Australia’s largest Indigenous broadcast network, with 11 remote and regional studios connected by a retransmission network of more than 30 locations across the Northern Territory and Northern South Australia. Alongside award-winning radio, digital media, and community storytelling, CAAMA is the custodian of one of Australia’s most significant First Nations media collections.

About the Opportunity
CAAMA is seeking a full-time Editorial Lead based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), NT.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll provide editorial leadership across radio and digital platforms while mentoring emerging First Nations journalists and ensuring the highest standards of journalism, ethics and storytelling.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading editorial planning and oversight across radio and digital platforms
- Mentoring and developing emerging First Nations journalists and content creators
- Supporting story development from concept through to publication
- Maintaining high editorial, ethical and journalistic standards
- Coaching staff in interviewing, writing, research and multimedia storytelling
- Collaborating across teams to strengthen newsroom capability and workforce development
- Building trusted relationships with Aboriginal communities across Central Australia
- Supporting CAAMA's long-term strategic vision as Australia's leading First Nations broadcaster
About You
To qualify, you'll need a Journalism qualification (Degree, Diploma or equivalent) together with a minimum of five years' professional journalism experience.
You'll also demonstrate:
- Strong editorial judgement and understanding of media law and ethics
- Experience producing digital and multimedia journalism
- Experience mentoring or leading journalists or content teams
- Exceptional interviewing, writing and storytelling skills
- A portfolio of published work demonstrating your journalism experience
Highly regarded experience includes:
- First Nations media
- Community or public interest journalism
- Multicultural media
- Remote or regional reporting
- Cross-cultural communication and engagement
