Tenterfield Shire Council is seeking reliable and safety-focused Plant Operators to support its Infrastructure Works section across Tenterfield and Urbenville, NSW.

Council is currently recruiting for Casual Plant Operators to provide additional support during short-term staff shortages and periods of increased operational demand.

In this hands-on role, you will put your existing plant and civil construction experience to work while supporting the delivery and maintenance of essential infrastructure across the community.

More specifically, your responsibilities may include:

• Operate and maintain road construction and maintenance plant and machinery
• Assist with road construction, pothole patching, concreting and general maintenance
• Complete daily pre-start checks and basic plant maintenance
• Install and maintain road signage, guideposts and erosion control measures
• Perform traffic control duties and work safely around live traffic
• Complete plant checklists, timesheets and other required documentation
• Follow WHS requirements, safe work practices and risk controls
• Work collaboratively as part of a safe, reliable and productive crew

Please Note: Opportunities may be available across Tenterfield and Urbenville as operational needs arise. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred location as part of the application process.

Is This You?

To qualify, you will need a Certificate II in Civil Construction (or equivalent) and demonstrated experience in road construction, maintenance and/or plant operations.

We’re looking for operators who can bring practical experience to Council's crews, so tell us about the civil plant and machinery you're competent and experienced in operating.

Additionally, the following skills, qualifications and experience will be highly valued:

• Certificate III in Civil Construction 
• Safework NSW Traffic Controller qualification
• General Construction (White) Card
• Certificate of Competency for the type of plant to be operated (or willingness to obtain – Council support provided)
• First Aid Certificate
