About The Capricornian Bank
The Capricornian Bank is a customer-owned financial institution providing a full range of financial services to benefit the Central Queensland community. Supporting local towns and communities is an integral part of our philosophy.
Established in 1959 and proudly the only customer-owned financial institution in Central Queensland, we've spent more than 65 years putting our members first. With eight local branches, local lending decisions and a genuine commitment to the region, we moved to full bank status in 2025 — a milestone that reflects decades of steady, member-focused growth.
As a customer-owned bank, we are supervised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC), follow the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice (COBCOP), and offer the government deposit guarantee of up to $250,000 per individual. Profits, operational spending and community investment are kept local, to benefit the people who live here.
