Help change how Australia trains the workforce its regional communities need
- Shape the marketing behind something genuinely new, from the ground up
- Make a lasting difference for regional and rural communities across Australia
- Enjoy an attractive contract rate of $130K - $150K for 6 months (ABN)
- Join a committed, purpose-driven team, with real autonomy and direct access to the CEO
Something New, With Real Purpose
Our client is a new venture in tertiary health education, developed in partnership with an established Australian university. Its model is designed to help meet a critical national workforce need, with a strong focus on regional and rural communities.
The groundwork is done: market research is complete, a professional brand is in place, and there’s a marketing budget behind it. The next step is the strategy that brings it all together, creating marketing that matters to communities right across Australia.
Why This Role Stands Out
- A portfolio-defining launch: design and deliver the marketing strategy for a high-impact venture ahead of its 2027 launch
- Assets ready to use: research, brand, budget and CRM are already in place
- A clear scope: 6 months to design and build, with possible extension into the launch phase
Your Opportunity to Shape What Comes Next
Our client is looking for a Senior Marketing Consultant to develop its marketing strategy and help bring it to life, reporting directly to the CEO on a 6-month contract. You’ll join a committed, hard-working team with plenty of momentum. You’ll work alongside the leadership, academic and community engagement teams, and be the main marketing link with the university partner, bringing patience and diplomacy to working across its teams.
This is a hands-on strategic role with real influence, working through partnership rather than line management and supported by a marketing budget. Alongside setting direction, you’ll roll up your sleeves to set up major opportunities, such as media, in conjunction with the university partner, and prepare communications, adding valuable capacity to a busy team. In the lead-up to launch, the focus is on building genuine community awareness. The strategy needs to be authentic, carefully staged and ready to go the moment the green light comes.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop the marketing strategy and week-by-week plans aligned to launch timelines
- Advise the CEO, leadership team and Board as the strategy evolves
- Identify and set up major marketing and media opportunities in key regions, in conjunction with the university partner
- Turn community engagement activity into soft marketing opportunities, such as local media and early awareness, and support the established engagement team with materials and advice on follow-up
- Review and help shape the new website as it develops, and lead the development of supporting marketing resources
- Build a pipeline of prospective applicants, including a self-assessment eligibility tool, so every interested person is captured and nurtured
- Get the organisation launch-ready: a multimedia campaign, consistent messaging with the university partner, and enquiry handling in place
- Prepare social and traditional media communications in a community-positive, impartial tone
Who We’re Looking For
This is a fast-moving role for someone who enjoys a challenge and thrives on variety. You’ll bring demonstrated senior marketing experience, including Head or Director of Marketing or senior consultant roles, and a tertiary qualification in marketing, business, commerce or a related field.
You will have:
- Built marketing strategy from a blank page, such as a start-up, new venture or market launch
- Delivered commercial results against revenue, enrolment or acquisition KPIs
- Run communications and engagement programs across diverse stakeholder groups
- Advised and influenced CEOs, executive teams and Boards
- Excellent writing and communication skills
Experience in the university or higher education sector will be highly regarded. Healthcare experience, approval-dependent launches, HubSpot skills, and experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities will also be valued.
As the ideal candidate, you’ll bring energy and a real sense of urgency, balanced with calm gravitas in front of senior clinical, academic and government stakeholders. You take initiative and work independently while respecting the systems and people already in place, turn big ideas into organised, practical plans, and keep leaders informed as you follow through.
What’s On Offer
In recognition of the expertise you’ll bring, the successful candidate will receive $130,000 - $150,000 for the 6-month contract (ABN, all-inclusive), along with:
- Work-related Travel Expenses covered
- Flexible, Hybrid Working from Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney, with some travel to partner university sites and an occasional regional community visit
- A tailored induction with the CEO, and a light-touch weekly catch-up once you’re underway
- An Immediate Start, with possible extension into the launch phase
- Strong foundations to build on: completed research, a professional brand, a marketing budget and an established CRM
- A committed, high-calibre leadership team and a genuinely purpose-driven culture
