The Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide assistance in the kitchen, preparing food, assisting with meal services and keeping the kitchen area clean and compliant with food safety requirements.

We have a great opportunity available for a Kitchen Hand at our Juniper Hayloft site located in Martin.

The role will be offered as a permanent, part-time position with a permanent shift of 06.30-14.30 on every second Friday. There is the opportunity to pick up additional shifts as and when required across multiple Juniper sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and presenting breakfast, serving of lunch and dinner
  • Provide kitchen hand services at our facility that include preparation of food, modifying food texture, apportioning food accurately and serving food to residents
  • Assist and dispatch all meals to the facility at Rowethorpe and other locations
  • Cleaning of cooking areas and equipment to a high standard
  • Application of safe food handling practices
  • Adhere to Juniper's policies and procedures relating to Occupational Safety and Health

Key requirements:

  • At least 1 year experience in a commercial cooking environment or aged care catering
  • Safe food handling practice and hygiene standards
  • Demonstrating good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant chemicals and safe handling practices and procedures
