About the Organisation
Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation (MPREC), established August 2003, is a government funded not-for-profit organisation with a primary objective of providing Indigenous communities with relevant and effective services.
The corporation has five primary objectives (driven by its constitution). These include:
- Development and implementation of effective employment strategies;
- Enterprise projects and business development and associated consultancy services;
- Delivery of accredited training;
- Development and implementation of community programs and services; and
- Provision of CDEP and similar services.
The Murdi Paaki Region comprises the whole of Western NSW, from the Victoria to Queensland borders. Many communities are critically disadvantaged by remoteness. There are 16 communities: Gulargambone, Coonamble, Collarenebri, Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Goodooga, Brewarrina, Bourke, Weilmoringle, Enngonia, Cobar, Ivanhoe, Wilcannia, Menindee, Broken Hill and Dareton / Wentworth.
There are four key service delivery (divisional) components of MPREC: Operations Unit (including CDEP, employment, and community services), Business Unit (including enterprise development, consultancy and media), Training Unit (including a Registered Training Organisation - RTO), and a subsidiary Building and Construction company. The organisation also operates Western Aboriginal Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service (WATAAS).
About the Opportunity
Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Executive Assistant to the CEO to join their team in Dubbo, NSW.
In this vital role, you will be providing effective and efficient support to the CEO and MPREC Management, including administrative and secretarial support.
This role also involves communicating Management directives to staff, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, managing the calendar and the CEO's diary and travel arrangements and preparing correspondence as required.
More specifically, some of your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Ongoing management of MPREC reports, files, funding agreements and associated project reports and acquittals;
- Driving the essential register of grants and reports and coordinating reports to meet submission deadlines;
- Mentoring and supporting other MPREC administrative staff;
- Representing MPREC at meeting and on committees, consulting with relevant partners and stakeholders and cultivating community and professional networks;
- Maintaining administrative procedures and identifying upgrades to increase efficiencies;
- Assessing and responding to community and organisational issues to ensure outcomes are met; and
- Preparing and drafting newsletters, memos, flyers, brochures, etc. to promote the organisation and/or programs.
To be successful in this role, you will require demonstrated experience in providing administrative and customer service support with a high degree of flexibility, initiative and discretion. This includes proven abilities in organising meetings, taking minutes, managing records, preparing correspondence and managing a diary/calendar and travel arrangements, coupled with knowledge in government reporting acquittals and timelines. While formal qualifications are not essential, those with IT or Business Systems qualifications will be highly regarded.
Murdi Paaki is seeking an assertive and flexible leader who has excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate confidentially, sensitively and effectively with people at all levels. You'll need to be a highly organised team player with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, prioritise work, analyse information and solve problems. It is essential that you have the ability to think broadly and look at the bigger picture when making decisions.
Ideally, you will have an understanding of the programs and services provided by MPREC and of EEO, OH&S, EAPS and ethical work practices, along with a willingness to undertake professional development where necessary. In this role, computer literacy in Microsoft Office software and the ability to undertake word processing tasks with speed and accuracy is imperative.
