About the Opportunity
Disc Brakes Australia has an exciting full time opportunity for a technically astute CNC Machinist to join their Silverwater team in Sydney.
Shift work may be required after the qualifying period and training is completed, with day shifts being 7am to 3.30pm and afternoon shifts being 3.30pm to midnight. Located on these premises is a warehouse, design office, tool room, 5 robots and some 20+ CNC machines.
In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting and understanding drawings and program specifications for the making of cast iron disc brakes. Ajax Foundries are the supplier for castings, and are also part owners of the company.
More specifically, your duties will include:
- Interpreting and understanding drawings, specifications and programs;
- Selecting and setting of the cutting tools;
- Time keeping of each job and adhering to procedures, rules and administrative requirements for the Workshop and Service Centre;
- Selecting and using measuring equipment plus completing measuring reports for machined items;
- Reporting damaged, worn or broken tools and machine parts to the Production Manager; and
- Adhering to quality and OHSE procedures.
This full time role requires an individual with a strong mechanical aptitude, as well as highly developed communication and organisational skills.
You must be a trade qualified machinist with a competency level of C9 or above and experience in both CNC turning and milling operations. Experience in using Fanuc and Mazak machine controls, and Murata, Mazak, Mori Seki, Kira, Hofmann, Hyundia/Kia, Brown and/or Sharpe CMM machines will be well regarded.
To be successful within this role you will be highly self motivated, team oriented and dedicated to delivering quality products to our customers. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills and the ability to work both independently and efficiently.
You'll work in a clean and modern workshop with on-site parking facilities available. Your own transport is essential, as bus services finish prior to the afternoon shift finishing.
