About the Opportunity
Maranoa Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an Overseer (Construction & Maintenance) to join their friendly team based at Surat, near Roma on a 5 year contract.
Reporting to the Manager of Construction & Maintenance, this leadership role will see you providing specialist technical support to facilitate the efficient implementation of Council's Road and Bridge Maintenance and Construction Program.
More specifically, some of your key duties will include:
- Developing on-site conceptual designs for rural roads and other minor construction projects;
- Preparing tender documentation for minor works projects;
- Reviewing adequacy of work related procedures as well as developing improved procedures;
- Preparing budgets and monitoring costs;
- Assisting with the preparation of reports for committee and council meetings; and
- Tender evaluation and contract supervision of minor construction projects.
Your strong background in civil design and construction, advanced knowledge of plant utilisation capabilities and your experience in Local Authority Road and Bridge maintenance and construction operations including asset, environmental and quality systems management will ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
The successful candidate with have an Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and relevant industry experience which will ensure you are skilled in understanding construction plans and are familiar with planning and programming of works. Because of the supervisory nature of this role, the successful candidate will be a skilled communicator with leadership and problem solving skills and have the ability to build and manage relationships effectively by liaising and negotiating with community and other stakeholders.
This role requires writing reports and tenders and, as such, the successful candidate will have excellent written communication skills and strong computer literacy, including document creation and familiarity with spreadsheet and database programs. Additionally, you will have a current C class drivers licence and a White Card.
