About the Opportunity
CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn has an opportunity for a permanent Part Time Registered Nurse to join their team based in Canberra.
You'll be joining the team working as part of the Dorothy Sales Cottages program, which provides high level care and support to 8 adults living with Acquired Brain Injury in a 24 hour accommodation setting. You'll be working 7 night shifts per fortnight on a permanent roster, giving you an enviable work/life balance.
In this role, your focus will be on providing hands-on clinical support and services to residents, as well as supervising the clinical and non-clinical support team during night shifts. For an experienced RN looking to further their management career, this role provides an opportunity to lead a professional team, with the advantage of overseeing a small caseload of residents.
Each night's specific care-giving activities will vary based on the needs of each resident, but your primary responsibilities will involve:
- Acting as a clinical resource, supervisor and role model in clinical practice for Enrolled Nurses, AIN’s Disability Support workers and other care givers;
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating resident clinical care in collaboration with the allied health team;
- Ensuring staff are supported and best practice care implemented in the most inclusive manner; and
- Maintaining accurate and up to date client records.

You'll be an excellent communicator who's comfortable with leading a team by example - providing supervision and advice to support staff, while delivering direct clinical care. You will be a self-motivated team player who can work independently and demonstrates the initiative to adapt to different situations.
This role will suit a confident and enthusiastic individual who understands the importance of good time management and is able to effectively handle high pressure situations. You must have the flexibility and willingness to work shared on-call phone contact roster as required. All applicants must hold a current driver's licence and be willing to undertake a criminal history check. Most importantly, you'll need to display a passion for working with and caring for people with a disability.
No two shifts will be the same in this role, and you'll enjoy a mix of real hands-on activities. You will be joining a family-orientated and fun environment which has an open door management policy.
Working permanent Part Time, with 7 days off per fortnight, your hours will be:
- Week 1 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 2145 to 0746
- Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. 2145 to 0746
