Harbour City Ferries is a joint venture between Transfield Services (Australia) Pty Ltd and Veolia Transport Australasia Pty Ltd (Veolia Transdev). Harbour City Ferries operates approximately 175,000 services, transporting more than 14 million people across Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River each year. The extensive network connects 39 destinations and spans approximately 37 kilometres from Parramatta in Sydney's west, Manly in the north and Watsons Bay in the east.
Harbour City Ferries mission is to create a world class ferry service in Sydney by taking the customer service to the next level. Harbour City Ferries will be keeping a strong focus on safety, a more reliable and dependable service, clean ferries and an engaged staff helping Transport for NSW to better integrate the ferry service more with the wider transport network. About the Opportunity
Harbour City Ferries has an exciting full time opportunity to join their team as a Service Manager - River. You will be working within the Operations Department, which has overall responsibility for the smooth running of safe and reliable ferry services. You will have specific responsibility for the River Service.
Reporting to the General Manager - Operations, this is a senior management role where you will be responsible for ensuring that Harbour City Ferries deliver optimum performance as well as leading the continued development of a customer centric culture and improvements in health and safety.
Some of your day-to-day duties will include (but will not limited to):
- Achieving safety, operational efficiency, service reliability and customer service objectives by leading and managing ferry services and staff on the important River Service;
- Overseeing and coordinating River operations;
- Monitoring and managing Zone operating budgets;
- Coordinating vessel maintenance, repairs, upgrades, modifications and refurbishments in conjunction with relevant parties;
- Providing safety leadership and championing safety systems in daily operations to facilitate a safety culture;
- Contributing to the quality management system to ensure continually improving business performance and effectiveness; and
- Managing staff and their performance, and liaising with appropriate stake holders regarding employment relations matters.
To be considered, you will need senior management experience. You'll also have experience implementing quality management processes as well as fleet operations and workforce management. This will be supported by a solid knowledge and understanding of marine safety legislation and regulations.
Harbour City Ferries is seeking an individual who has the management and leadership skills to guide and motivate their team to achieve service, operational and safety results. You will be a person who thrives under pressure and high responsibility and possesses high level analytical, problem solving and decision making skills. Industrial relations experience would also be advantageous.
You'll possess high level communication and interpersonal skills in order to consult, facilitate and negotiate with key stakeholders while building effective relationships. You will also be able to implement change in workplace practices, attitudes and culture.
A Master Class 4 Certificate or higher or Naval equivalent will be highly regarded as would appropriate maintenance experience.
