About the Organisation
Wallis Drilling is a contract drilling service company, offering Reverse Circulation drilling, Wallis Aircore drilling, Diamond Core drilling and Grade Control and Blast Hole drilling, all of which are suitable for mine based or remote exploration work.
Based in Midvale, Western Australia, and established in 1964, the company employs approximately 160 personnel and operates a fleet of 35 drill rigs and field support vehicles. Wallis Drilling operates throughout Australia and regularly undertakes contracts overseas. Wallis Drilling has drilled on all continents in the world.
Wallis Drilling has, over the years, been singularly successful in developing innovative new drilling techniques. Three sample drilling systems, incorporating dual tube drilling using circulating air in the drill string, have been developed and patented world wide. Acknowledged as a "standard" for reverse circulation drilling in Australia, the Wallis Air Core system has been granted an Australian Design Award.
About the Opportunity
Due to growth and expansion, Wallis Drilling has an exciting opportunity for a Drilling Supervisor to join their team, and work on a number of current projects along the East Coast of Australia. This is a field based position, working on a FIFO roster.
Some of the basic functions of this position will include:
- Supervising Drillers and crews, and maintaining company aims, policies and standards;
- Identifying / reporting non-conformances and opportunities for improvement;
- Monitoring individual job performance in the field and reporting any potential loss as compared to budget; and
- Liaising with client / company representative on day-to-day drilling of wells.
Ideally, you will have prior experience within coal bed methane drilling, and a thorough knowledge of deep diamond drilling techniques. Previous supervisory / leadership experience is essential.
It is essential that you hold a current HR Driver's licence, and a Senior First Aid certificate will need to be obtained within three months of joining the business.
Candidates with BOP ticket and knowledge of permit to work systems will be viewed favourably, however these are not essential.
All applicants must be able to pass a fitness for work medical and a drug screen. The organisation requires someone who is flexible enough to undertake a FIFO roster (two weeks on, one week off).
