About Partners in Recovery (PIR)
The PIR (Partners in Recovery) initiative is the collaborative effort of The Gold Coast Medicare Local in partnership with other service providers. The ultimate objective of the initiative is to improve the system response to, and outcomes for people living with severe and persistent mental illness.
Partners in Recovery aims to better support people with a lived experience of severe and persistent mental illness with complex needs, and their carers and families, by working in a more collaborative, coordinated, and integrated way with services the person may need. PIR will facilitate streamlined access to the clinical and other service and support needs of people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness with complex needs, and support improved coordination of multi-agency response. There are a number of sectors central to the success of this initiative, but not limited to – primary care (health and mental health), the state and territory specialist mental health systems, the mental health and broader non‐government sector, carer supports, alcohol and other drug treatment services, income support services, as well as education, employment and housing supports. PIR will support the multi‐service integration and coordination needed to ensure services and supports are matched to people’s needs.

About the Coordinator - Partners in Recovery (Intake)
The Mental Health Association of Australia has a rewarding opportunity for a Coordinator - Partners in Recovery (Intake) to join their team at the Gold Coast.
In this exciting, newly created role, you will be responsible for improving referral pathways that facilitate access to the range of services and supports needed by the PIR target group. In effect, you'll facilitate better coordination of clinical and support services to deliver 'wrap around care' which has been tailored to meet the needs of individuals.
More specifically, your primary duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Working within a recovery oriented and consumer focused framework;
- Develop meaningful relationships with consortium agencies to facilitate seamless referral processes;
- Coordinating a team in screening eligible PIR consumers and in providing appropriate information and referrals;
- Providing brief support to individuals not meeting the PIR criteria; and
- Coordinating the maintenance of a comprehensive resource directory for Information Line and consortium partners.
To be successful, you will have tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in the mental health field as well as the ability to work with consumers who have multiple complex needs and difficulty engaging with services. You will need knowledge of, and the ability to, develop implement and evaluate effective recovery oriented Individual Action/Recovery plans. Importantly, you will also have experience within, and an understanding of, clinical/health and/or welfare and support systems as well as extensive local knowledge of Gold Coast Services, both governmental and non-governmental.
The Mental Health Association of Australia is looking for a caring and empathetic team player who is able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary service system and develop rapport/build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, carers and families. Additionally, you will have the ability to think conceptually, analyse issues and develop innovative solutions and strategies within organisational and service system constraints.
Your exceptional communication and negotiation skills as well as your ability to demonstrate imagination, hope and optimism will see you succeed in this challenging role.
A current driver's licence, working with children check and criminal history check are required before commencing employment.
