About the Opportunity

Currently, Methanex is seeking a Global Manufacturing Systems Analyst to join their global team. Given the high level of travel, there is flexibility for this role to be based at the corporate office in Vancouver, BC, or either of the manufacturing sites in Medicine Hat, AB or Geismar, Louisiana, or, for the ideal candidate, a home office within North America.

A passionate and driven business systems expert with a proven track record of Maximo experience, you will lead global implementations, upgrades and operations of Methanex’s world-wide Maximo systems. Well-versed in large-scale oil and gas or petro-chemical plant construction, operations, and maintenance, you will connect business strategies and needs to system configurations, driving global continuity and providing exceptional service.

Specifically, you will:

  • Ensure a growing continuity of global system elements, processes and reports to reduce duplication of efforts world-wide
  • Lead all system implementations or upgrades at new, existing or acquired sites by collaborating with local site IT and functional leaders to define needs or risks that require a software upgrade; lead the functional and technical fit gap analysis, requirements identification, design and configuration of the system
  • As both a functional and technical expert, act as a key information resource for each site’s functional project manager, and provide day-to-day support
  • Provide on-going post-implementation support to each site
  • Actively work with global asset management and maintenance leaders and personnel to continually optimize processes and information
  • Provide leadership, training and mentorship to local site systems analysts responsible for maintenance system operations
  • Maintain strong connections with vendors to actively optimize and negotiate agreements, and evaluate new technologies and trends

In addition to a post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, you are an IBM Certified Deployment Professional for Maximo Asset Management V7.x and have knowledge of IBM Maximo Asset Management V7.5 functionality and infrastructure components. You also have 10+ years’ experience implementing, upgrading and operating Maximo systems of varying versions. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification; prior experience with inventory management, maintenance or turnaround planning; and, knowledge of OSI Pi products, implementation and operation experience would be considered assets.

Additionally, you have knowledge of:

  • The asset and work management life cycle;
  • Analysis and data gathering techniques;
  • SQL databases, such as Oracle and SQL Server, including development of complex queries;
  • Application servers, operating systems, networking and firewall concepts;
  • XML;
  • Java development using Eclipse IDE;
  • Report development using IBM tools;
  • Web application tools like WebSphere and WebLogic;
  • Security (i.e. SSL, data encryption, system user accounts, directory servers);
  • Protocols, including HTTP, SMTP, LDAP.

Further, you must possess and display the following core competencies:

  • Highly flexible with a strong ability to comfortably respond to complex, ambiguous and abstract concepts and situations;
  • Superior analysis skills including a demonstrated ability to identify hidden problems, and seek out answers using a variety of resources.

This position will require extensive, global travel to support Methanex sites world-wide. Travel is estimated to account for approximately 80% of your time. As a result, your home site location may be negotiable.
