About the Organization

The Grande Prairie School District #2357 consists of a number of schools within the Grande Prairie area. Consisting of 14 schools, the Grande Prairie Public School District has been providing education to families in the Grande Prairie area for over 100 years. About the Opportunity

Grande Prairie School District #2357 is seeking an experienced Education Psychologist to work in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

As a member of the Grande Prairie Assessment Team, you will assist referred children in obtaining and/or maintaining an optimum level of function in an educational setting. You will achieve this by providing consultation services as part of a trans-disciplinary team, as well as providing service to students who meet the GPIT and/or CASE mandates.

Specifically, you will:

  • Assess children, report your findings and recommend action to co-workers, school personnel, family members and the student (as appropriate);
  • Facilitate and monitor the development and implementation of the Individual Program Plans as requested by the program supervisor;
  • Disseminate information required by school personnel to facilitate the appropriate utilization of psychological services;
  • Maintain a clinical record for each child and document all relevant interventions, findings and outcomes;
  • Organize and exchange information with other individuals and agencies as required for the delivery of psychological services to children in a trans-disciplinary context;
  • Foster student access to other needed services through referral to appropriate professionals and agencies;
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of a service delivery and quality assurance plan as directed by administration;
  • Develop and manage a library of educational psychological resource materials;
  • Contribute to the planning, development and improvement of services to sensory-impaired/multiple handicapped students;
  • Attend staff, department and other meetings as called by administration;
  • Effectively communicate any aspect of student status or service to the supervising psychologist.

In addition to a Master’s degree in a related psychologist/educational discipline, you are registered or eligible for registration as a chartered psychologist in the Province of Alberta. A Bachelor of Education would be highly desirable, as would pediatric experience. A valid driver’s license is essential as you will be traveling to various schools in the Grande Prairie region.
