About the Opportunity


Due to significant growth, RAV has an excellent opportunity for a part time Counsellor / Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Practitioner in their Gippsland team.

 

The main aim of this role is to provide general relationship/couple counselling. The role involves conflict resolution, parent education and negotiation, and support to make decisions to resolve practical matters.

 

Some of the role's more specific duties will be to:

  • Provide high quality, ethical and professional counselling services, assess client needs and provide individual, couple, family and group counselling interventions designed to enhance the relationships of clients, providing referral where appropriate
  • Work as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, within both co-mediation and sole mediation / conciliation frameworks, to provide information and high quality services for families and separating couples as well as possibly conducting children's consultation sessions as appropriate. You will assess, screen and make decisions regarding suitability and mediation approach, providing referral where appropriate and negotiating fees for clients in an efficient and sensitive manner.
  • Positively contribute to RAV meeting its contractual obligations by:
    • delivering the agreed number of interviews, ensuring case load and case mix is in accordance with budget, RAV policies and protocols
    • maintaining accurate records of client attendance, appropriate case notes and necessary forms;
    • completing statutory reports in an accurate and timely manner
    • ensuring that counselling practice complies with appropriate policies and legislation (e.g. Mandatory Reporting)
  • Participate in professional development activities and regular supervision to ensure ongoing quality improvement, engage in performance planning and review in line with the RAV procedures

The successful applicant will hold appropriate qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related area, and have experience in various therapies. Successful applicants must undergo a police check, and you need to be eligible for membership of an appropriate professional body.

 

You will need to have professional experience and expertise in counselling interventions with individuals, families and groups, and demonstrated experience with clinical management. The ability to work with couples, and experience conducting group work as part of a team that provides innovative Relationship Skills training will also be advantageous.

This role operates from the Traralgon Centre, reporting to the Centre Manager, and incorporating some evening work. The branch and the organisation are committed to professional development and supportive professional supervision.
