About the Organisation
The Gold Coast Medicare Local (GCML) is an independent, not for profit, primary health care organisation. It aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the Gold Coast community by working in partnership with health and community services such as general practice, allied health, mental health, aged care and youth services.
Medicare Locals have been established across Australia to coordinate and integrate health and community services and to identify local needs and create local strategies in response.
GCML receives funding primarily, but not exclusively, from the Commonwealth Department of Health.
About the Opportunities
Gold Coast Medicare Local (GCML) has a number of exciting opportunities for Project Officers on the Gold Coast.
There are up to 3 Project Officer positions and 1 Project Support Officer position for:
Aged Care Project Officer (1.0 FTE)
- OTAGO training
- Falls intervention
- Allied health services to RACFs
- Education and training for RACF staff
- S2S Waitlist
Refugee Project Officer (1.0 FTE)
- Scoping of refugee project
- Health assessments and immunisations
- General Practitioner upskilling
Scoping Project Officer (1.0 FTE)
- Consumer directed care
- Diabetes prevention
- Self management
eHealth Project Support Officer (1.0 FTE)
- Patient assisted registration
In this role as a Project Officer, you will assist in and contribute to the development, implementation, management and reporting on the progress and evaluation of Primary Health Care Projects that contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives and operational plan of the GCML and the various programs.
More specifically, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with the development and implementation of projects using standard project management techniques with health and community services objectives and stakeholders to meet the objectives of strategic and operational plans;
- Assisting with monitoring and review of projects budgets and report on progress of these ensuring quality outputs are delivered within deadlines;
- Monitoring area wide trends and contribute to the development and implementation of projects to meet objectives of strategic and operational plans;
- Assisting with the identification and mitigation of project risks and proactively identify, report and manage project risks and issues; and
- Working collaboratively and providing support to the GCML Advisory Groups, to facilitate strategic advice and direction, identify provider needs, and support the delivery of initiatives to address needs.
The successful applicant will have a relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated significant experience working in a Primary Health Care setting. Previous experience working in Health Care Projects in the Primary Health Care setting will be highly regarded. Additionally, you'll possess a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Australia's Health Care System, particularly in the areas that relate to Primary Health Care Service Provision, as well as basic scoping methodologies, or the ability to rapidly acquire this information.
Your experience in assisting to plan projects to effectively achieve results, using standard project management techniques with Primary Health Care or Community Services stakeholders will be the key to your success, as will your ability to work collaboratively to identify the Primary Health Care needs of the Gold Coast Community and recommend initiatives to improve these.
It's vital you have a strong focus on relationship development including negotiation and consultation, while your ability to think conceptually, analytically and develop innovative solutions and strategies is also important. This role demands a highly organised team player with the capacity to think and plan in innovative ways in order to overcome obstacles. GCML is looking for someone who has a passion for improving the health and well-being of the community, and the ability to deliver outcomes within a tight time-frame. A current driver's licence is required.
