More specifically, your duties will encompass (but not be limited to):

  • Providing leadership and direction to the management team, staff and volunteers;
  • Encouraging and facilitating a work environment that attracts, rewards, educates and develops talented individuals;
  • Serving as key spokesperson for Lung Foundation Australia, in conjunction with the Chairman;

To be successful in this role, you will need significant senior management experience in a role within a similarly-sized organisation, along with a track record of people, funds and physical asset management. You will have proven leadership, coaching and relationship management experience as well as a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams. Ideally you will have familiarity with, or experience in, the health care sector, and will understand the operational aspects of a not-for–profit organisation. Background qualifications in Management and Administration in a setting of advocacy and community health will also be highly regarded. An understanding of issues and systems impacting Australian’s health and well-being is essential. It is also desirable that the appointee is able to demonstrate his or her ability to quickly gain a detailed understanding of the health issues of Australians living with a lung disease.

You will need to have experience in reporting to (or working with) a Board of Directors along with an ability to motivate, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders — both internal and external — to present ideas, receive feedback and communicate organisational messages. A natural networker and effective relationship builder, you'll be confident in acting as an advocate for Lung Foundation Australia, at many different professional and community levels, and be able to actively seek out, create and take advantage of strategic opportunities as they arise.

Lung Foundation Australia is seeking applications from high-performing, ethical leaders who are driven by results and work well in teams. This will mean turning broad goals into strong, measurable and achievable objectives and having the program management experience to ensure the achievement of these.

A high level of organisational and written communication skills is integral to your success in this position.
