About the Opportunity

 

Due to continued expansion, Mind has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader-Sandridge to join their team in Clifton/Northcote.

 
The main aim of this role is to assist the Program Manager to provide supervision, support and annual staff appraisals, as well as reviewing the process of clients' care and management. The Team Leader will also provide leadership in the day to day operations of the Sandridge services including service delivery, service development, networking and service promotion, staffing, staff supervision and professional development, finances, quality controls and evaluation. 

 

Sandridge provides a range of services for young people who are aged between 18 and 25 years of age, who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. Sandridge services are primarily funded by the SAAP with some Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation Support Services (PDRSS) funding.

 

The aim of the program is to support Sandridge clients to address the many issues that impact on their ability to live effectively in the community including supporting issues around Mental Health and assisting with the development of a range of life skills.

 

Other issues include dealing with the impact of family breakdown, abuse and traumatisation, income issues, employment and education issues, securing long term affordable housing, legal issues etc.

 

Sandridge services include:

  • Sandridge House - a 24-hour staffed residential service in Clifton Hill - medium term;
  • Sandridge Outreach - a block of ten single bedroom flats in Northcote;
  • Sandridge Community Outreach - support to young people living in the North Eastern suburbs; and
  • General outreach support and advocacy targeted at young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Sandridge has a strong focus on recovery frameworks and practices that places emphasis on clients taking responsibility for their actions during the course of their engagement with the service. The service employs approximately 8 staff.

Assisting the Program Manager, you will contribute to the overall responsibility for service delivery by:

  • Modeling strong and positive leadership within the program;
  • Ensuring the promotion of the program through provision of a sound and accountable service of the highest quality;
  • Providing support, supervision and leadership to the staff group through sound practice in all facets of program service delivery;
  • Providing coordination of client activities, referral and assessment of clients consistent with SAAP service standards and recovery-oriented practice;
  • Being responsible for the planning and review process of clients' care and management through regular reviews that facilitates ongoing long-term goals to independence;
  • Supporting staff in designing, implementing and reviewing specific recreational, social and vocational programs for individual clients that meet their specific needs; and
  • Liaising with other relevant services and professionals in relation to the client's needs.

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or another health-related field. You will also have a proven track record of managing a team in a community service organisation. Importantly, you will have experience working with young people who have complex needs as a result of trauma, abuse, family breakdown and homelessness. 

 

The successful candidate will have the capacity to effectively lead, coach and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes, with extensive experience in the provision of professional supervision. Experience in advocacy, innovation, collaboration and problem solving of a complex nature is also a must.

 

The organisation is looking for someone with highly effective interpersonal skills and behaviours, incorporating verbal and written communication, flexibility, resilience and exceptional relationship skills.

 

You will have computer skills to enhance and maximise program reporting and measurement. A current Victorian driver's license is essential. 

 

This position is full-time, working 38 hours per week.
