About The Council of Haida Nation
The Council of the Haida Nation (CHN) was formed in 1974 by visionaries with a plan to organize Haida people into one political entity. From these beginnings, and over the past 30 years, the CHN has been addressing the land question and has become a National government enacting legislation and policy affecting many aspects of life on Haida Gwaii.
The CHN works to protect the Haida culture, ensuring that the Haida way of living continues. The Council has negotiated and signed agreements with other Coastal First Nations, Non-Governmental Organizations and local communities, and continues to work on agreements with both the federal and provincial governments.

About Haida Gwaii
There is no place on Earth like Haida Gwaii. Experience a world of intrigue, a world of adventure and a world of undeniable beauty...
Haida Gwaii consists of a series of over 200 isolated islands, large and small, totaling approximately 1,000,000 hectares, located 100 km west of the northern coast of British Columbia. Haida people make up half of the 5000 people living on the islands.
The area is home to ancient temperate rainforests, quaint villages, secluded inlets, and beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see - a place so remote that roads cannot bring you here, yet offering the warmest of welcomes once you arrive.
There is no shortage of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. Boundless opportunities for kayaking, hiking, fishing, golfing, surfing, and wildlife watching await you in Haida Gwaii, and all nature lovers will be amazed with just one visit to the world-class Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve.
The closest city to Haida Gwaii is Prince Rupert with a population of 13,392, and the ferry from Prince Rupert to Skidegate takes just 8 short hours. The islands are situated 720km north from Vancouver (population of 2,116,581).
Don’t miss this chance to enjoy the majestic outdoors in the natural playground of Haida Gwaii!
