About the Organisation
Mountain District Private Hospital is located in the outer eastern Melbourne suburb of Boronia, some 28km east of the Melbourne CBD.
It was purpose built as a private hospital with acute medical and surgical facilities in 1982, and is licensed for 40 beds. The spacious accommodation includes many single rooms with ensuites, plus a mixture of two and four bed rooms. The hospital also includes nine day patient trolleys/chairs, two operating theatres and a separate endoscopy room. All rooms have delightful garden aspects and the hospital includes a day room for patients and/or visitors.
The separate day procedure room is fully equipped with video endoscopy equipment. Other specialties include general surgery, orthopaedic, plastics, ophthalmology, ENT, dental, gynaecology, general medicine and pain management.

About the Opportunities
Mountain District Private Hospital (MDPH) has fantastic opportunities for an Operating Room Technician and Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) Technician (Casual or Permanent Part-Time) to join their outstanding Boronia team!
The primary aim of these roles is to deliver efficient and effective technical services, ensuring quality outcomes for all stakeholders.
Some of the specific duties for the Operating Room Technician role will include:
- Assisting in preparing operating rooms for surgery;
- Transporting of patients between departments;
- Assisting in patient positioning;
- Restocking of supplies;
- Cleaning of medical equipment;
- Maintaining personal development by regularly attending and participating in education programs and achieving Accreditation; and
- Other duties as directed by the nursing staff.
The CSSD Technician role will include the following duties:
- Disassembling, decontaminating, reassembling, reprocessing, packaging,sterilising and storing of specialised and general instruments /equipment according to infection control guidelines;
- Filling stock orders and packaging supplies for ward areas;
- Ensuring adherence to quality assurance procedures in the operation of pre-vacuum steam for all equipment, instruments and linen on a daily basis;
- Checking in/out of Loan Unit Sets from companies and other hospitals, as well as reporting the cleaning and sterilisation of loan instrumentation; and
- Maintaining personal development by regularly attending and participating in education programs and achieving Accreditation.
The Operating Room Technician will need to have Mayfield or equivalent certificate, while MDPH is seeking a CSSD Technician holding Mayfield or equivalent certificate, ideally with knowledge / experience in sterilising technology and/or a completed Sterilising Technology course.
Both roles will require good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work individually or as a member of a team. You will also need to be available to work flexible hours.
