About the Organisation
The Victoria Daly Regional Council was formed as part of the Local Government reforms in the Northern Territory. The Council encompasses a large geographical area, which comprises of five indigenous communities and surrounding outstations (cattle stations). Council Service Centre’s are located in Kalkaringi, Yarralin, Timber Creek, Pine Creek and Nauiyu. The Council’s aim is to strengthen its communities with local people delivering regional service to their own communities with the skills and knowledge of their own culture, community and people. Katherine, with a population of over 9,200, is situated 300 km southeast of Darwin in the "Top End", the third largest community in the Northern Territory. About the Opportunity
Victoria Daly Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join their team based at the regional office in Katherine, NT.
In this varied role, you'll be responsible for providing administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer by maintaining records, initiating follow up action to ensure that deadlines are met.
More specifically this will include (but will not be limited to):
- Assisting the Senior Finance Officer to maintain the record of fleet asset management;
- Managing reconciliation of bank accounts and corporate credit cards, payroll deductions and Superannuation payments;
- Ensuring discretion and confidentiality is adhered to, promoting the Council's image;
- Monitoring cash reserves and investments; and
- Performing other administrative duties to assist the CFO, Senior Finance Officer and Assistant Finance Officer as required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow their skill set and establish their career with a dynamic local council. You'll also display the ability to utilise a range of software packages, including the use of finance programs.
Victoria Daly Regional Council is seeking applications from self-motivated candidates who can work well both under direction and autonomously. You'll have a very high level of attention to detail and display excellent organisational and time management skills, ensuring your ability to manage competing priorities and complete your tasks within deadlines. Of course, you'll also require good verbal and written communication skills and excellent numerical ability.

The successful candidate must have a police clearance (not older than 3 months) prior to commencement.
