About the Opportunity

NPA currently has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Director to lead their team of professionals, based in Injinoo, Cape York, and only 10 mins drive from the town of Bamaga.

NPA operates two licensed long day care Child Care Centres and two After-school Care/Vacation Care Centres at the Injinoo and Umagico communities in the Northern Peninsula Area of Cape York. Centres are funded through budget based funding arrangements with the Federal government but are still required to follow compliance requirements as per the QLD State Early Education & Care Act 2013 and the National Quality Framework. Centres are commencing implementation of their Quality Improvement Plan in 2015.

The majority of staff employed in the child care centres are indigenous and have attained qualifications up to Diploma level, although they require some support to ensure programs are developed correctly and observations are recorded fully.

The Director is not required to do any finance work in this role or manage budgets, and minimal reporting to funding bodies is required. Directors are supported in their role by a line Supervisor on a regular basis.

This position will be available for a period of 2 years.

The successful candidate will have a Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Children's Services, or an Early Childhood Education degree (or in the process of completing). You'll have an extensive understanding of and/or experience in the child care industry. Previous senior management experience is a must, as is a demonstrated ability to create developmentally appropriate children's programs.

You will have experience in developing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring administrative and policy requirements in an Early Childhood setting. Importantly, you will have a positive management style coupled with exceptional communication skills which ensures that you will be able maintain the cohesive nature of your team. You'll be working closely with a range of stakeholders, so the ability to develop quality relationships is a must.

While not essential, candidates who have previous experience coaching and mentoring others will be highly regarded.

To be considered, it is essential candidates hold a valid Working with Children Blue Card and a First Aid Certificate, or be able to obtain.
