About the Organisation
Kingaroy Lodge Inc is a recently-registered, not-for-profit organisation that aims to provide support and housing for homeless, or at risk of homelessness, men in the South Burnett Region. They also recognise the need to encourage these men to seek support in all aspects of their lives, including the emotional, physical, mental, relational, legal and spiritual aspects of life, to encourage them in reaching their full potential in the broader community.
About the Opportunity
Kingaroy Lodge Inc. has a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and passionate indivdual (or couple) to join their organisation as a Caretaker in Kingaroy, QLD.
In this diverse role you will be responsible for coordinating the maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
Your key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Coordinating volunteers to assist with grounds maintenance;
- Arrange repairs and maintenance to the property as needed;
- Ensure the physical security of the property;
- Maintaining and updating all required policy and management records;
- Undertaking orientation of new residents, and performing exit condition reports upon resident departure; and
- Responding to enquiries from residents, the general public and local agencies.
To be considered for this role, you will possess highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people from all walks of life. You will be able to demonstrate your empathy and compassion in your dealings with the residents, and have a warm, outgoing personality.
Additionally, your problem solving abilities will allow you to solve problems as they arrive, and will be able to identify and report on areas for improvement in policies and procedures. You will be self motivated, and able to work independantly with minimal direct supervision.
Ideally, you will have prior experience in a care taker role in the running of a boarding house or hostel, or qualifications in community welfare or similar, as well as experience providing support and guidance to homeless and near homeless people, however this is not essential for this position. Experience in community services, hospitality, or food services would be beneficial as well.
