About the Organisation

Hidden inside an unassuming manufacturing facility in the North Brisbane suburb of Northgate, you'll find one of Brisbane's most innovative and creative employers - Urban Arts Projects.  Once you step through the front door, you're immediately greeted with some of the most impressive major project work you're likely to ever see.

If you're a Brisbane resident, some of the typical projects you're no doubt familiar with include the Brisbane Domestic Carpark screen, the M+A Laneway in the Valley and the Westfield Carindale playscape.

With a broad mixture of Artists, Designers, Project Managers and Tradespeople united under the ethos of delivering art and creativity for the public realm, Urban Arts Projects offer their team a working environment that is unlike any other in Brisbane.  The loft environment provides a functional workspace for the Design and Project teams while just below on the production floor, you'll find a massive workshop that is equipped with everything you would need (including a foundry) to fabricate and deliver a large scale, high impact project.

These impressive projects would not be brought to life if not for the support of Urban Art Projects' incredibly talented and motivated administration team. This close-knit group of individuals work flexibly behind the scenes to get company projects up and running.

About the Opportunity

Urban Art Projects now has a rare opportunity for a Cost Analysis/Management Accountant with experience in a project environment, to join their team in this newly created role.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will primarily be responsible for developing, producing managment reports, and feeding this information back to management. As Urban Art Projects has an office in Shanghai and you will be involved in Chinese projects, the ability to speak Mandarin would be highly regarded.

Some of your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working closely with project managers and the Contract Administrator to deliver accurate project costing forecasts;
  • Reporting costing variances and proposed cost saving measures back to the management team;
  • Developing and producing management and KPI reports to the business;
  • Coordinating and leading the one-off implementation of a new accounting system including liaison with external software providers;
  • Working closely with the CFO to service overseas subsidiary companies and collating data for reporting purposes; and
  • Assisting the Financial Accountant to provide accurate project revenue and gross margin for end of month reporting.

This role will require an individual that holds a degree in Accounting, along with or working towards their CA or CPA qualifications. You will require advanced knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to interpret and manipulate spreadsheets, along with proficiency in the use of other Microsoft Office Suite programs.

In order to work for UAP, it is essential you have demonstrated experience in, and thorough knowledge of, manufacturing and/or project based environments. Experience in accounting system upgrades or in leading an implementation would be beneficial.

Importantly, you will have well developed interpersonal skills, allowing for a level of synergy with the other creative minds at UAP. This is an organisation that prides themselves on thinking outside the box and making the seemingly impossible a reality. As such, you will do whatever it takes to play your part in getting the job done, whilst also being flexible with your contribution to benefit the projects. However, you will also be realistic about project costs and concerns, and need to be able to negotiate and communicate these issues clearly with all levels of the business. Your passion for continuous improvement will see you bringing innovative financial solutions to this challenging and dynamic work environment.

About the Benefits

This is an outstanding chance to join a dynamic multinational company where no two days are the same. You'll be constantly challenged and will enjoy the resulting inspiring environment of innovative professionals who know they are contributing to something special.

Working from their unique facility in Northgate, Urban Art Projects will provide you with long term career opportunities. The company expects you to grow and develop this Global accounting role into the future.

This is a key role within the business. You'll work closely with senior management, and play a vital part in implementing and improving the company's accounting processes, both domestically and internationally. As such, you'll be rewarded for your hard work with a highly attractive salary, commensurate with experience.
