About the Opportunity
Norske Skog has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Business Sustainability and Environment Manager to join the team at the Boyer Mill in New Norfolk, TAS.
This is a diverse role which focuses on Business Sustainability and Environment Management. You will provide energetic leadership in areas of business sustainability – particularly through continuous improvement initiatives, innovative development of commercial opportunities and community relationships and proactive management of the the Mill’s environmental performance.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Managing compliance with Norske Skog’s global environmental expectations, surpassing minimum regulatory and legislative requirements;
- Building relationships that enhance environmental, economic and community accountability
- Applying external regulations, legislation, programs and initiatives that provide business opportunities in e.g. energy, community and business grants, new commercial opportunities
- Contributing to the management of mill wide continuous improvement programs e.g. to reduce the Mill’s Energy consumption;
- Developing re-use opportunities for waste streams and managing the Mill’s EMS (ISO 14001)
- Developing a collaborative, results focused, team based work environment for the Production Services Team which manages water treatment, effluent treatment and boiler operations.
To be considered for this role, you will possess tertiary qualifications in a relevant Environmental Management, Business, Science or technical field. You will have a solid understanding of, and experience with, environmental management and performance, ideally within a continuous heavy manufacturing environment. Additionally, you'll be able to demonstrate success in business enhancement and experience leading and managing high performance teams, particularly in a results focused, continuous improvement environment.
Importantly, you'll have a thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant environmental and other legislation and reporting requirements, and the ability to adjust to changing political and legislative environments.
Your communication skills and outgoing personality will allow you to develop positive, long lasting relations with community members, regulators and colleagues.
Your business acumen and innovative mindset will equip you for success in developing improved business processes and efficiencies mill wide.
