About the Opportunity
Melandra Homes have excellent opportunities for two qualified Carpenters to join its skilled construction team based in Blackheath, in the Blue Mountains with travel to Sydney's West.
In these varied and diverse roles you will be responsible for performing multiple, varied tasks required for residential construction of new homes. As Leading Hand, you will in addition oversee responsibility for a small team of 3 Carpenters and an Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking variety in their work, who enjoys being challenged and is looking to take that next step in their career!
Some of your key duties will include, but may not be limited to:
- Leading Hand of a 3 man crew;
- New Home construction from set-out to completion;
- Extensive weatherboard construction;
- Bearers & Joists & slab on ground construction;
- Internal and external fix outs;
- Roofing, gutters and storm-water;
- Stairs and window installation; and
- Timber frame construction and joinery.
To be successful, you will be trade qualified, and be able to demonstrate experience with residential carpentry. As a Leading Hand, previous supervisory experience will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
With a focus on quality construction, you will have an eye for detail and a pride in your work. Additionally, you will consider yourself to be a strong, collaborative, team player. Your problem solving skills and initiative will allow you to work independently when needed. Most importantly, you will be an enthusiastic 'go getter' with a strong work ethic and the flexibility to provide skilled assistance in a range of construction capacities.
A current OH&S White Card and driver's licence is essential for this role, along with a suitable work vehicle and relevant tools.
