About the Organisation and Area

Gloucester township is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW and is home to 3,000 people in a vibrant, friendly and well resourced community one hour from the coastal town of Forster and 1.5 hours from Newcastle. Their well serviced rural shire with a population 5,000 people is nestled in the foothills of the famous Barrington Tops National Park boasting significant rivers for adventure camping and canoeing. 

The township of Gloucester is the major commercial and urban centre of the Shire. The shire hosts a shopping centre, commercial and light industrial areas are located in Gloucester Township, as well as the Gloucester Shire Council (GSC) administration centre, Gloucester Hospital and the main schools.

About the Opportunity

GSC is seeking an Engineering Asset Manager with high level communication skills and attention to detail to join their team, working 35 hours a week on a 4 month contract!

The main aim of this role is to review, update and develop the council's asset management plans, information, and strategies.

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Updating and developing the current Asset Management Strategy for service levels, hierarchy strategies, risk approach, funding strategies, and improvement plans;
  • Conducting and overseeing the asset revaluation of structures and community land;
  • Updating, reviewing and documenting risk management plans to reflect data, capture risks and align to associated emergency response plans;
  • Collecting and maintaining accurate asset condition data;
  • Assisting with the development of asset management policies and procedures; and
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and council policies. 

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering, and have experience within a similar environment  with a demonstrated ability to collect and maintain data, interpret construction plans and specifications, and deliver projects on time within budgets. Experience in using IPWEA NAMS.PLUS Asset Management is essential. Knowledge and experience in database software would provide a clear advantage to candidates, as would previous experience in developing and delivering asset management training packages.

You'll posses unparalleled written and verbal communication, allowing you to work effectively in a team, as well as sharp critical thinking and time management skills to ensure you can also work autonomously when needed.

Please note, a current valid driver's licence is required for this role, as you may sometimes be required to travel throughout the council's service area, or visit neighboring shires.
