About the Opportunity
Australasian Mail Services has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Operations Manager - Freight Forwarding / Logistics to join their team at their Botany facility, Sydney, NSW.
In this position, you will be responsible for managing between 15-25 employees in a high volume, reactive environment, dealing with multiple clients to deliver world class distribution services.
More specifically, some of your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Delivery of daily KPI's;
- Manage the receiving, put away and processing of freight;
- Manage labour requirement to minimise costs;
- Control pick rates;
- Lead and support warehouse staff in performing their roles;
- Ensure staff understand all facets of warehouse requirements;
- Ensure all OH&S procedures are followed; and
- Conduct staff training and process improvement.
In order to be successful, you will need considerable experience working as a Warehouse Supervisor/Manager, with previous experience in the Logistics / Air Freight sector highly regarded.
A current forklift license is essential, as is an understanding of VMS/RF Scanning equipment. Your commitment to quality management and process improvement will also play a vital role in your success. As you will be liaising with staff and clients, it is essential you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
AMS are looking for candidates with experience working with Customs, the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS), within a bonded warehouse or within the E-Commerce sector. You are also required to have an in depth knowledge of picking/packing processes.
