Kurbingui Youth Development Limited (KYDL) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal community-based organisation that delivers a range of programs and services aimed at improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people across the greater Brisbane, Moreton, and Bayside regions. Through contributing to the cultural, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of ATSI people, KYDL’s programs have a strong focus on addressing isolation, poverty, discrimination and unemployment.

About the Opportunity

Kurbingui Youth Development Limited have an opportunity for a Office and Accounts Administrator to join their dedicated team in Zillmere, on a full-time, 12-month fixed term contract, with possibility for extension.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, you’ll be responsible for the day to day management, administration, and operation of accounts, payroll and administration functions, including supervising administration staff, managing finance, payroll, and information technology matters, in order to ensure the efficient operation of the organisation.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing input and advice on the creation and implementation of office policies and procedures that relate to administrative, accounting, payroll, IT, HR and reception functions;
  • Directing and overseeing the day to day activities of the administration team, allocating and prioritising work effectively to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Undertaking the development and management of administration team staff;
  • Supervising volunteers in conjunction with the relevant Program Manager;
  • Preparing fortnightly timesheets and payrolls;
  • Managing all functions for accounts receivable and accounts payable; and
  • General office, administration, and financial management.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced office administrator, who is confident in providing management and support to all functions within the organisation, including finance, administration, information technology and HR. Strong financial acumen, with the ability to oversee all financial functions of the organisation, will be key to your success in this role. Candidates with a qualification in accounting and/or business administration will be considered favourably.

Relying on your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will liaise, consult, and negotiate with staff at all levels, alongside a wide range of external stakeholders, in order to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. A developed understanding of Indigenous culture, with the ability to liaise in a culturally sensitive manner, is paramount to your success in this position.

Meticulous attention to detail coupled with strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving skills will see you flourish in this highly varied and autonomous role. Your highly organised nature will see you well-equipped to self-motivate and self-manage, ensuring tight deadlines are met both by yourself and by the administration team.

A high level of computer literacy, with the ability to use a number of software databases, accounting programs, and business technology is a requirement of this role. In addition, successful candidates must have a current, unencumbered driver’s licence, and be eligible to obtain a “Positive Notice” Blue Card.

Candidates who hold CPA accounting qualifications and First Aid and CPR Certificates will be considered favourably.
