About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Employment Consultant - Community Development Programme (CDP), to join Roper Gulf Regional Council in the Community Services team based in Katherine, NT.

Operating under the direction of the Regional Manager, you'll be responsible for coordinating the provision of job seeker services for the caseloads assigned to the Katherine community based roles. You'll also take responsibility for liaising with internal and external stakeholders to maximise job seeker outcomes and supporting staff in delivering job seeker services.  

Some of your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Providing training, current information, guidance and support to CDP staff and job seekers;
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure exceptional service delivery;
  • Interacting with job seekers;
  • Ensuring contractual compliance; and
  • Compiling reports as required.

To be considered, you will have a proven background in employment services in remote areas. It is desirable that you have a thorough understanding of the CDP contract. 

Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking a candidate who has strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train and mentor staff. 

Additionally, you will need well developed interpersonal and communication skills, giving you the ability to liaise with a wide variety of employees and external stakeholders and ensuring strong working relationships are established and maintained. You will also be confident in communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds. Preferably candidates will have an awareness of the issues affecting Indigenous communities in remote locations.

Some out of hours work, including occasional travel to remote communities requiring overnight stays will be required.

A current 'C' class manual driver's licence and a Working with Children Clearance Notice (OCHRE Card) are essential to be considered for this position. You will also be required to undertake a criminal history check and update each year as required.

Prior to employment with Roper Gulf Regional Council you must obtain the following:
