Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in the far north west of South Australia. Across this area, Nganampa Health operates seven clinics, an aged care facility and assorted health related programs including aged care, sexual health, environmental health, health worker training, dental, women's health, male health, children's health and mental health.
Nganampa Health Council is widely recognised as being the exemplar Aboriginal health service in the country. Their successes include significantly reducing the rates of sexually transmitted infections, increasing birth weights through their antenatal program and consistently keeping childhood immunisation rates at 100%. Their Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura aged care facility is also being recognised as the best remote area aged care facility in the country.
The Organisation was awarded the Infanrix Immunisation Award in 2006, and their work has since been commended around the country by health commissions, the Australian Medical Journal and former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
