ABLE Therapy is an occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physiotherapy service offering clinic based children's services and generalist mobile services which covers from Beenleigh area south to Bribie Island, Caboolture and Wamuran North.
Their home visiting service provide support to Veterans (DVA) including Home Assist, disability services, MASS, CAEATI applications, and occupational therapy reports for care agencies in planning care and manual handling needs of clients and carers. In addition, ABLE has a specialist service that provides treatment for continence, bed wetting with children and lymphoedema.
ABLE is partnered with a number of schools, including Burpengary Meadows State School, Narrangba Valley State School, Burpengary State School, Jinibara State School and local childcare centres, providing services such as prep screening and teacher training.

About the Opportunity
ABLE Therapy has an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their team based in Northlakes, on a flexible, part-time basis initially working 2 days per week with opportunity to increase to full-time.
As a therapist working at ABLE, you will be responsible for assessing and providing therapy for a variety of developmental needs. Most clients are school aged children (4-8 years), many of whom struggle with sensory processing challenges; these families find ABLE Therapy to be a "lifeline". Working with families, children, and their school, these challenging roles are rewarding and make a significant change for the future potential of your clients.
The key responsibilities for this role will include:
- Assessing client developmental needs in order to set relevant, appropriate, and specific therapy goals for client treatment;
- Providing therapy using a variety of service delivery options including individual appointments, transdisciplinary sessions, parent training, and input into early learning groups;
- Conducting family-centred practice that empowers families to become their child’s best early intervention workers and help them achieve their own goals;
- Maintaining documentation and correspondence including reports, progress notes, and referral letters; and
- Reporting as required.
About You
ABLE is seeking applications from candidates with relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, who hold, or are currently undergoing the process of obtaining, registration with AHPRA. Prior paid or unpaid experience within paediatrics is a key requirement of this role, however experience gained through placements/internships will be considered.
You’ll be approachable, welcoming, and friendly, with the ability to connect with clients primarily between the ages of 5-8. This is a high energy role as a large portion of your client base will be comprised of children within the autism spectrum. As such, you will need exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in order to engage with clients effectively, whilst also liaising with parents and families in an informative and professional manner. You’ll have strong negotiation and problem solving skills, with the ability to think laterally and adjust therapy methods to ensure continued client engagement.
Importantly, you’ll have a sense of fun, with a passion for the services you provide and a commitment to ensuring each child receives the support and care they need to meet their therapy goals. Whilst it isn’t a requirement, it is desirable that candidates have a current Blue Card/Working with Children Clearance and a current National Police Check. A current driver’s licence is a requirement of this role.
