About the Organisation
Boolah Partnership is a family owned farming organisation in Northern New South Wales, conducting an end-to-end operation including sowing, spraying, harvesting, and grain storage.
They plant more than 24,000 hectares of winter and summer crops on a mix of owned and leased country in the Pallamallawa and Gunnedah districts, and in 2013 they were appointed one of three national suppliers of malting barley to Barrett Burston Malting house for its Crown Lager program.
Owner Stuart Tighe has achieved all this in less than 20 years, and maintains: “Everything we’ve done has been about incremental improvements, not major leaps and bounds”.
About Dimboola and the Moree Plains Shire
Dimboola is a progressive large grain growing company in the Moree Plains Shire of New South Wales. Being only 50 km from Moree - a large regional hub - Dimboola lies in close proximity to such attractions as the famous Moree Artisan Aquatic Centre and the Moree Heritage Trail, as well as an excellent hospital, schools, major stores, and sporting/leisure activities. Moree also holds an airport with daily flights to Brisbane and Sydney.
Pallamallawa is the main district down the road from Dimboola, with a small Primary School, Pub, Corner Store, and a Post Office. This is a place where people can appreciate the wildlife and good company, spending weekends golfing, fishing, water-skiing, or just taking a walk.
About the Opportunity
Due to exceptional growth, Boolah Partnership has a newly created role for a Human Resources Manager, joining the team on a full-time basis in Dimboola, NSW.
Your primary responsibility in this role will be to make yourself visible and accessible to staff, managing both permanent and casual employees. As the business works to seasons, your responsibilities will shift around harvesting time when the number of employees rises from 40+ to 100+ with casuals.
Some of your specific daily duties will include:
- Performing WH&S risk assessment and completing incidence reports;
- Conducting recruitment, inductions, onboarding, and staff training, including documentation and staff reviews;
- Undertaking research and project work with a view to improving professional development outcomes for staff; and
- Managing the payroll and addressing staff queries concerning salary.
The successful candidate may come from a variety of different HR backgrounds, with no tertiary qualifications necessary. Rather, Boolah Partnership are looking for experience, motivation, and professional confidence.
Your experience will include staff management, project management, and a familiarity with payroll software. You must also have a strong understanding of WH&S policy and procedure.
You will have excellent interpersonal skill, effectively communicating with all levels of the business. As this is a newly created role, the ideal candidate will be looking for an opportunity to make this role their own and add value to the business.
You must be flexible to adjust your hours around the flow of staff, however, traditional hours will be 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. You must also be willing to travel on occasion (approximately one day a fortnight), at which point a vehicle will be provided.
Work for a spouse may also be organised if relocating as a couple.
