About the Opportunity

Mount Polley Mining Corporation, an Imperial Metals company, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Assayer to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Mount Polley Mining Corporation is an open pit copper/gold mine with an underground component located in central British Columbia, 100 kilometers northeast of Williams Lake. 

Reporting to the Chief Assayer or designate, you will be responsible for reporting accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis. Specifically, you will produce reports for mill, mine, exploration and environment departments. Your schedule will include 12-hour shifts on a 7 days on/7 days off rotation. 

This position is well suited to someone with a strong technical background, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work safely in a fast-paced and highly productive environment. You will also be a flexible and adaptable team player who enjoys being 'hands on' and who has exceptional attention to detail. 

The successful candidate will have a post secondary education in chemical technology, as well as 3-5 years of experience with fire assay and wet analysis. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered and candidates looking to complete the Assayer Training Program will be supported by the organization. 

You will also demonstrate knowledge of the following: 

• Sample preparation
• Copper analysis by both titration and AA determination 
• Gold and silver analysis by gravimetric and AA finish 
• Carbon/Sulfur analysis

A valid driver's license and proficiency with computers, including LIMS and Microsoft Office, is required.
