About the Opportunity

Currently, The BID Group has an exciting opening for a Drafting Technologist with Mechanical/Structural experience to join its busy team at our head office in Prince George, BC.

In this role, you will work with layouts from our drafting department to complete simple to complex structural designs and details.  

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Completing the development of General Arrangements, installation drawings and details for jobs of varying complexity.
  • Preparing foundation, structural and mechanical drawings for fabrication and construction by our shops and field crews
  • Interacting with the design, fabrication and installation teams during the design process

To qualify for this role, you will have completed an Engineering Technology program from a recognized technical college and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and construction of mechanical and structural systems. 

Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent AutoCAD skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to produce intelligent and efficient design
  • The ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, accurate, and efficient. You will do well in this role if you have the ability to work autonomously while contributing to the team as a whole. Previous experience in the wood products industry or with materials handling will be considered an asset.
