About the Katherine Region

About the Opportunity

Roper Gulf Regional Council (RGRC) have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Skills and Development Coordinator to join their team in Katherine, NT, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Assistant Human Resources Manager, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the achievement of council objectives through the development and application of appropriate human resource and skills development policies and procedures, and act as a key link between management and staff.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the induction of staff groups at Head Office and at remote service delivery centres;
  • Identifying and implementing skills development plans and programs and coordinating regular analysis of skills development needs;
  • Sourcing and evaluating external training providers, as well as designing and implementing training resources for in-house delivery of identified units and providing internal training as required;
  • Contributing to the development of induction programs for employees and delivering induction courses to groups of employees; and
  • Designing and maintaining a matrix of essential skills for each job role within Roper Gulf Regional Council.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrated experience in implementing, designing, and maintaining a professional skills development system, and developing and implementing Human Resource policies, strategies, and projects. 

You will be an excellent communicator, with a positive and encouraging interpersonal style, and the ability to draft high-quality correspondence and reports. You will have an advanced level of computer literacy, with word processing and computer application skills, and highly developed time management and organisation skills with a proven ability to work to strict deadlines.

A strong customer service focus and a genuine appreciation of Indigenous culture will be essential, as will your commitment to working constructively in a small team in the context of Equal Employment Opportunity, Workplace Health and Safety, and Cultural Diversity principles. A current NT ‘C’ Class Driver’s License will also be required as you may be driving considerable distances to remote communities (necessitating overnight absences) in the course of your duties.
