Mornington Shire Council now has an exciting opportunity for an Accommodation and Administration Manager to join their team based in Gununa, Mornington Island. This is a 2 year, full-time contract position. 

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Human Services, the Administration Manager has overall responsibility for the management of the Council Administration and Accommodation Team which includes customer services, council facilities and staff and general administration. You will synchronize each of these functions, drive process improvements and identify opportunities for cost savings in order to maximise Council's financial position. 

Your day-to-day duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Management of the end-to-end process involved in Council facilities and accommodation bookings for staff and visitors including securing payments from guests;
  • Recommending repairs and maintenance issues for Council's visitor's and staff accommodations to infrastructure and technical services department;
  • Providing leadership and coaching to team members and facilitating all executive team and staff meetings; and 
  • Management of general administration duties including the recommendation and implementation of process improvements as required.

What you need to succeed

To be considered for this position you will hold tertiary qualifications in business, hospitality, workplace health and safety or similar and have previous experience working in or managing accommodation services. You will have a strong administration background including the document control, archiving and general administration including the development of risk management plans. 

As this is a leadership position, the ability to lead, engage and motivate employees will also be required. Local Government experience is not mandatory for this position.

Critical to your success in this role will be the willingness and ability to live and work in a highly remote location. You will be comfortable living and working with people from all different cultural backgrounds, including Indigenous Australians, and will be unbiased, hardworking, honest and respectful in all of your dealings with employees and relevant stakeholders. 

This role would be well-suited to someone from a hospitality management, workplace health and safety or business administration background looking for an autonomous role they can make their own.
