About Drug and Alcohol Services Australia

Drug and Alcohol Services Australia (DASA) is a nationally accredited, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing enriching support services to their clients throughout Alice Springs and the surrounding communities.

They provide a number of support services, including Aranda House; a 20-bed therapeutic community that offers a twelve week residential AOD program, plus an eight week program for volatile substance misusers. A Transitional After Care Unit is attached to this community to facilitate participants’ semi-independent living, alongside an Independent Living Program being offered for the later stages of a participant's journey.

DASA also provides a Sobering Up Shelter and an Outreach Program to provide support to clients during crises. With a commitment to promoting self-determination and confidence, DASA provides exceptional support services to their clients throughout Alice Springs and surrounding communities.

About the Opportunity

DASA now has a highly rewarding opportunity for a Therapeutic Community Manager - Alcohol and Other Drugs to join their friendly team at Aranda House in Alice Springs, on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Manager, People and Operations you’ll be responsible for leading the Case Management Team and other staff toward best practice in the Therapeutic Community Model. 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a high level of leadership and management to staff including conducting performance reviews;
  • Leading, developing, facilitating and participating in program management relating to relapse prevention, harm reduction, drug education, health promotion and well-being activities;
  • Reviewing processes and procedures, including reporting requirements, and providing insight into improving these processes;
  • Overseeing and reviewing treatment processes, in order to optimise quality and delivery; and
  • Ensuring the comfort and dignity of residents is maintained at all times. 

To be considered for this position you will hold tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences or similar with demonstrated post-graduate experience in these areas, including designing, facilitating and involvement in AOD, cultural groups and activities. Candidates with a Diploma in Community Services will also be considered, providing they have at least 7 years relevant industry experience, including experience in a management position. 

With an engaging leadership style, you’ll be committed to nurturing the professional development and growth of staff. You’ll have strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to make effective decisions that benefit both the clients’ needs and the community.

Well-developed communication skills will ensure you’re able to liaise with internal and external clients professionally and effectively, in order to establish strong working relationships. Above all, you’ll be driven to constantly innovate and improve the services provided by DASA.

DASA would like to offer the successful candidate a competitive remuneration of $100,054-$112,144 commensurate with skills and experience, alongside NFP salary packaging options to the value of $15,900.
