About the Opportunity
Flight Centre has a fantastic opportunity for two Flight Centre Accountants to join their teams - one in Brisbane, and one in Cairns.
The Accountant is a key team member, and will primarily provide financial and business support at a Retail level across the area, contributing to the long term financial health, well-being and reporting of the Retail operations.
As a member of the QLD Retail Finance Team, the Area Accountant is also responsible for the financial analysis, reporting and highlighting improvement opportunities in the area.
More specifically, the successful candidate will also be responsible for:
- Preparation of monthly financial statements and management accounts;
- Analysing and interpreting the monthly results and following up on significant variances;
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards;
- Assisting Team Leaders with the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts;
- Preparing cash payments and receipts in the General Accounting System (GAS), bank reconciliations and internal "shopdraw" charges;
- Internal audits of the business and reconciliation of all client accounts on a rotational basis;
- Providing ad-hoc training and accounting support as required; and
- Assisting with special projects and the implementation of system and process improvement initiatives from time to time.
The successful candidates will have a relevant tertiary degree (or be nearing completion) combined with commercial, financial and professional experience, plus strong analytical and problem solving skills. In addition, you will have a high level of expertise in Microsoft Office programs and have exceptional attention to detail. Plus, you will have proven teamwork skills while also enjoying the autonomy of working independently.
To be successful in this role, you will require advanced time management, communication and organisational skills, and be able to "step up" when required. You will possess a strong commitment to outstanding customer service.
