About the role

Burrun Dalai now has multiple opportunities for passionate Psychologists to join their Kempsey, Taree, and Tamworth teams on a full-time basis.

Regular clinical supervision is available on an as-needed basis and is delivered from within the organisation.

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to provide services to Aboriginal children and young people and their families and foster families where the need for Out of Home Care has been confirmed.

You will also act as a resource for Case Workers, Case Work Managers, and Foster Carers in relation to Aboriginal issues in Out of Home Care and developing services for Aboriginal children, young people and their families to ensure that they are able to reach their full potential.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Completing assessments of children and their families;
  • Providing treatment and consultative services to Aboriginal children and young people and their families where deemed appropriate;
  • Developing, monitoring, and implementing case management plans in order to achieve set goals;
  • Participate in joint meetings involving key parties and Family and Community Services as appropriate;
  • Undertaking regular supervision with the Senior Clinical Psychologist/Therapeutic Specialist and Executive Officer as required;
  • Participating in community/networking meetings that are deemed appropriate; and
  • Engaging in regular and ongoing Quality Improvement activities.

What you'll need to be successful

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a tertiary qualification in Psychology/Clinical Psychology and hold - or be eligible for - registration in New South Wales. 

You will need experience with conducting comprehensive assessments for clients and have a strong knowledge of child protection, trauma-informed strengths-based programs plus a flexible approach to evidence-based therapeutic practice. 

As Burrun Dalai is an Aboriginal organisation, it is critical that you are able to work effectively with a diverse team of individuals and have a willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will need a positive, non-judgmental attitude, a real passion for social justice, and exceptional oral and written communication skills. An ability to form good relationships with all staff members and clients will be key to your success. 

Most importantly, you will need to be passionate about making a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal children, young people, and their families. You will display patience, flexibility, adaptability, and resilience and truly love what you do.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an attractive over-reward remuneration package circa $100,000 - $120,000!

You will also enjoy working a 36.75 hour week, being 35 ordinary hours and 1.75 accrued hours towards a paid RDO every month!
