About Grow National

Grow is a national organisation that has helped tens of thousands of Australians recover from mental illness through a unique program of mutual support and personal development. Established in Sydney in 1957, the organisation's founders were drawn together by their first-hand experience of mental illness. The wisdom they gained in helping each other to overcome life’s challenges and recover from mental illness was carefully recorded and forms the basis of the unique Grow Program.

Non-clinical group meetings (facilitated by a seasoned, recovering member) are held weekly, where members can share challenges encountered in everyday life, and find support from others who have experienced similar challenges. These meetings create an opportunity to learn from shared experiences and allow members to find a sense of community and belonging during their journey to bettering their mental health.

The 60 staff and over 400 volunteers at Grow share a mission to provide proven mutual help and peer support based mental health recovery and education programs for individuals, families and communities, in a range of settings, using contemporary means, to achieve and maintain good mental health and life skills.

Grow has won a number of awards, including the NSW Government Mental Health Matters award this year.
