ProTen Limited is an industry leader specialising in the design, production, and operation of high-quality broiler chicken farms across Australia.
ProTen farms are strategically located in New South Wales and Western Australia with a total of 268 sheds in operation on 16 farms. ProTen owns and operates its farms and produces 68 million birds per annum which represents approximately 11.0% of Australia’s production.
About the Opportunity
ProTen is currently seeking a full-time Workplace Health & Safety Officer to join their team, based in Griffith, NSW.
Reporting to the National Operations Manager, this national leadership position in Workplace Health and Safety management will see you providing direct hands-on support and professional advice / guidance to the operations team.
Your daily duties will combine office and farm-based work, including:
- Managing and maintaining WH&S compliance requirements across all farms in all locations (Griffith, Tamworth and WA);
- Assist in improving the WH&S culture within the business;
- Leading WHS programs, and managing any workers compensation claims and return-to-work processes;
- Ensuring regulatory requirements are consistently met;
- Maintaining and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs), with particular emphasis on safe work practises;
- Conducting staff training and new employee induction processes; and
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive contractor induction program.
This is not an audit function role but is a pro-active hands-on role. ProTen is looking for a self-directed and self-motivated candidate who is able to confidently support the rest of the team. To be successful, you must be driven to further develop the company’s processes (not just follow them), and focused on solving issues as they arise.
In addition to working across our 12 Griffith based farms, you will also need to travel to our 3 Tamworth based farms on a monthly basis and to our WA based farm 2-3 times per year.
Previous experience in a Workplace Health and Safety role and a minimum qualification - Level 4 Certificate in WH&S, is essential, preferably within the agricultural/rural sector and/or the poultry sector.
Candidates must have obtained the right to work in Australia at the time of their application.
