Kogarah Community Services Inc. (KCS) is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that has been providing aged care services, community engagement programs and childcare services to the local community since 1975.
Their Community Engagement Program aims to strengthen the local community and build capacity through the delivery of key services including Developing Community Connections (focussing on creating a sense of belonging in the community and developing local networks), Providing a Community Centre (focussing on providing a place for people to meet and access information and services locally), and Providing Community Support (focusses on increasing community knowledge, well-being, and confidence).

About the Opportunity
Kogarah Community Services now has an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Officer to join their team in Kogarah, Sydney on a part-time basis (14 - 21 hours per week).
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for delivering Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) programs designed to ensure positive outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, families and communities.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating all aspects of community events;
- Identifying and realising opportunities for community and stakeholder engagement;
- Raising the profile of KCS and maintaining high levels of brand recognition through a range of media outlets;
- Conducting community needs analysis annually or as required;
- Developing partnerships and collaborating with other agencies;
- Contributing to relevant management and organisational meetings; and
- Undertaking any other duties that may be relevant to the organisation.
About You
Most importantly, you will thrive in a role where you can take the initiative to create innovative community programs whilst working on existing KCS programs. You will also be passionate about making a real difference within this vibrant local community.
To be considered for this position you will need to hold a Diploma in Community Development/Service or equivalent plus have demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating community events.
Candidates will also need to have previous experience with grant writing and funding submissions, including managing budgets, delivering project outcomes and outputs, and WHS management.
An understanding of the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse communities mixed with the ability to build networks and manage key stakeholder relationships will be essential to your success in this role. As will exceptional interpersonal, public speaking and advocacy skills.
In addition, candidates must have demonstrated skills in the facilitation of groups and workshops for people from diverse backgrounds and an understanding of how to undertake a community needs analysis ensuring that future planning is reflective of these needs.
