About the Organisation

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

Anyinginyi consists of five different sections covering a wide array of services such as clinical care and social and emotional well being, health promotions, sports and active lifestyle and administrative services. This diversity allows for a holistic approach to health, ensuring that clients physical and emotional health and well-being is given the utmost priority.

Anyinginyi health service delivery area stretches north of Tennant Creek to Elliott, across to the east, almost to the QLD border and south to Ali Curung - almost 150,000 square km.

About the Opportunity 

Anyinginyi is now seeking full-time Male Aboriginal Health Practitioners to join their team in Tennant Creek, NT. These positions are initially being offered on a 1-2 year contract basis, with likely extension for the right person, subject to funding.

Reporting to the Health Services Section Manager, you will be primarily responsible for working as part of the Aboriginal Health team, providing a range of in-centre care support services, early intervention and health promotional programs which enhance the health and well-being of clients and community.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include:

  • Assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to understand their health conditions and how to manage them;
  • Advising on the importance of following a care plan, which may include structured support for self-management and assistance with care plan compliance;
  • Providing support in identifying signs that clients' conditions may require further assistance from a health professional;
  • Maximising community and individual self-reliance, self-care and participation;
  • Collaborating with other agencies and sector to support an integrated referral and advocacy system; and
  • Documenting and adhering to procedures, including Medicare billing.

About You

To be considered for this position you must be registered to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner, with a minimum of Cert IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice, and must possess AHPRA registration. A current certification to give vaccines in the NT, or ability to obtain this certification, is required.

Anyinginyi is seeking individuals with the ability to undertake triage of clients, as well as high level skills in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use client information management systems. 

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be crucial in this role, as will the ability to coordinate and facilitate clinical and informed education practices against the requirements of the portfolio.

Although not essential, any experience in remote area nursing and/or telehealth will be highly regarded.

Please note: Prior to commencement you will need to undergo a National Police Clearance and obtain a current Ochre Card. A Driver's License and the ability to drive to communities as required, is also essential for this role.
