The Role
Located 30km outside of Roma, as the Head Stockperson You will support the station manager in day to day station activity and lead the stock camp. You'll share our passion for safety people and cattle, you take pride in what you do and, you do it well. You're totally committed to looking after your team and the health and welfare of our animals.
Along with being driven, energetic and reliable, you'll have:
- Excellent horsemanship & livestock handling knowledge, ability and skill
- Ideally 2 years minimum experience leading a stock crew (minimum Leading Hand level)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach & mentor a high performing station crew
- Understanding of workplace safety, hazards & risks
- Fitness to safely undertake the physical aspects of station work
- Sound judgement & problem solving
- Good computer literacy
- Meeting operational goals whilst guaranteeing best practice animal husbandry and maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare;
- Promote and educate crew on best practice low stress livestock handling;
- Managing a safe work environment and implementing safe systems of work
- Effective utilisation of station crew and resources
- Coordinate Cattle through the supply chain and ensure accurate recording and reporting;
- Manage all aspects of the animal health;
