People & Culture Business Partner - Agribusiness

Job No: ACC237
Location: Negotiable - Brisbane, Darling Downs or Roma Region

About the role

This pivotal role will be professionally challenging and personally rewarding as ACC and the P&C team transition to a new business operating model that requires new ways of working, new systems & technology and new structures. Reporting to the Group Manager, People & Culture, whilst working within our Agribusiness operations you will be well supported by our talented, expert team in learning & development, ER/IR, HR projects, communications, culture & engagement to enable you to deliver quality HR activity, service, and support, aligned with our new P&C strategy. We are aiming high and working hard to be innovative and set new industry benchmarks and ultimately exceed best practice HR standards.

Using your entire HR tool kit, you'll thrive working autonomously with our Agri leaders and teams to attract, build and maintain a high performing, skilled, capable, engaged, and healthy workforce. You'll make a key contribution to major organisational initiatives including implementing and embedding a values based culture and our transition towards integrated systems, technology, and communications. As an ambassador for ACC, you'll be proactive within the industry, promoting rural and remote career paths and opportunity, as well as ACC's employer brand through networks and participation in key government, industry, education, and community events.

Whilst the team are based at our Cannon Hill Head Office, just east of Brisbane CBD, this role could be based at Brindley Park (our central Agribusiness office, 40 minutes from Roma), Opal Creek Feedlot, (near Cecil Plains in the Darling Downs) or Brisbane. Wherever you're based, you'll travel frequently to feedlots & properties across Queensland by road and air.

About you

Either through personal or professional experience, you are passionate about "the bush".  You will quickly establish trusted relationships with the dedicated team who live and work with us and become a reliable source of expert HR advice, practical solutions, and support. You'll have a genuine curiosity and interest in understanding our agribusiness operations and proactively identify commercially sound opportunities where HR can make a positive impact. You're a self-starter who enjoys being hands on and in the detail. You'll thrive being self-sufficient and having accountability throughout the administrative, transactional, tactical, innovative, and strategic levels and processes.

With a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an end to end generalist role, ideally within a multi-site, agricultural or rural operation, the successful candidate will have:

  • Practical working knowledge of contemporary HR practices and workplace relations
  • Successful delivery of talent attraction, acquisition, recruitment, and retention strategies
  • Working knowledge of industrial relations frameworks & the ability to accurately interpret & apply industrial instruments & legislation
  • Ability to undertake workplace investigations and facilitate performance management & formal disciplinary processes
  • Commercial acumen, sound judgement, objectivity and decision making
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and down to earth verbal communications
  • Ability to produce accurate reports and information as well as articulate written communication and documentation
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities across multiple locations
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Electronic recruitment/ATS & HRIS software (Oracle HCM an advantage)
  • Understanding of HR Analytics, KPIs and success measures
  • Unlimited working rights
  • Attainment of bachelor’s degree within Human Resources or similar stream
  • Licensed to operate a manual vehicle

Critical to being successful in this role will be an ability to find the right balance between operating independently and being a team player, maintaining connections to the P&C team for support and to ensure consistency and alignment to the Group strategy. Also, with the nature of our Agri operations and that our people live and work with us, you'll need to be flexible to be available outside of usual business hours as required from time to time and be willing and able to travel frequently (sometimes at short notice) to rural and remote locations.

If all this sounds appealing, and you're a mid-level HR professional seeking a role you can genuinely make a real impact in, AND you're driven, down to earth, approachable, and authentic with a great sense of humor, apply now!
