The Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) is seeking a talented Communications Officer to join our team and champion our mission of achieving health equality for Aboriginal people across WA.
As our Communications Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping how we communicate our vision and mission. Here’s how you’ll contribute:
- Develop and distribute engaging print and digital content.
- Drive the creation and distribution of print and digital publications that resonate with our audience.
- Work alongside our Communications and Design Team to develop impactful communication strategies and campaigns.
- Amplify our reach by promoting content through social media, newsletters, and other digital channels.
- Handle photography and maintain a photo library for visual storytelling.

About You
We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, public relations, or journalism, with at least two years in a communications role.
- Proficient in designing and publishing print and digital materials, with strong written communication skills.
- Experienced with social media management, email marketing software, and tools like Adobe Photoshop.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and uphold cultural safety principles.
Ideally, in addition to the above, we are looking for a candidate who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and is accepted as such by their community, and has previous experience working in the not-for-profit or community sector.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
