The RTO Community of Practice Coordinator is responsible for leading the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the WA Aboriginal Community Controlled (ACC) and First Nations Owned (FNO) Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Community of Practice (CoP). You will do this by providing high-level coordination, governance support, communication and sector liaison to ensure the effective functioning of the CoP, in accordance with its Terms of Reference.
This includes organising meetings and workshops; preparing agendas, minutes and action logs; managing membership and governance documentation; and facilitating the flow of information across Member Services, RTOs, partners and government stakeholders.
This role is newly created due to expanded state-wide workforce development funding and represents a rare opportunity to help shape a unified, collaborative training and workforce development environment for the Aboriginal Community Controlled sector.
This role will:
- Coordinate all CoP meetings, workshops, learning circles and sector engagement activities;
- Prepare agendas, minutes, action lists, briefing notes and supporting documentation;
- Maintain governance documents, membership records, decision logs and action registers;
- Support alignment with national CoP structures through national workforce networks;
- Facilitate effective communication with CoP Members, Associate Members and sector partners;
- Prepare newsletters, updates and resource summaries to share learning across the sector;
- Coordinate logistics for events, meetings, guest speakers and learning activities;
- Support the development of statewide workforce and training resource materials;
- Provide updates and reports to the Executive Manager Workforce Development and Training; and
- Contribute to collaborative work across the broader Workforce Development and Training Work Group.

About You
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Experience in project coordination, governance support, secretariat support or similar roles;
- Experience in the VET sector, workforce policy, Aboriginal Community Controlled sector or peak body coordination;
- Strong attention to detail and organisational capability;
- High-level written communication skills, including agendas, minutes, reports and briefing papers;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently;
- Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools; and
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Ideally, in addition to the above, we are looking for someone who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by their community.
The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
